{The 20 Minute Rule: Part 1}

Hey ya’ll. I am so glad you decided to stop by today. I shared with you last week that we are celebrating our 1 year birthday here on {In Pursuit}! How awesome is that?! We made it to the one year mark and it has been an awesome journey.

I also shared with you that this past year brought many challenges, setbacks, failures (if I can be real!), but also many, many victories.

I am not who I was last year. So many things- from my marriage, my parenting, my home, to my spiritual life…. all of it has changed.

Here’s my problem…

For years, I’ve been my hardest critic. Setbacks and failures were not things I dealt with lightly. This year, I have had to learn that  these do not define me. Instead, they show me what doesn’t work’.

So what’s the point of sharing all that?

For starters, I don’t ever want you to show up here and feel like you’re reading from the pages of someone who’s got it all figured out. Because the truth of the matter is, I don’t.

I’m simply trying to live life differently. And as I’ve mentioned in the past, if I find something that works for me (even if it only works for a week, {smile}) then why not share? Perhaps if we all sat around the table and shared what we’ve learned both from our victories and failures, we’d have more to ‘give’ to one another.

And so, today I am stopping to celebrate the many things that DID go right this past year!!!!

Congratulations to me! I rock! I’m amazing! Wonderful! I am becoming a Proverbs 31 woman!

(Go ahead, you can celebrate some of your own accomplishments too! I’ll wait.)

However, things don’t stop there. I am also taking a look at those things that didn’t quite work for me this year. Like what, you say?

  • Staying focused on certain goals.
  • Taking daily steps towards those goals.
  • Getting that Meal Plan going (this has been a hit and miss).
  • Staying fit and healthy (this is a whole other story!!!).

These are just some of the areas that need my attention.

We all have them. We all have those areas that throw us off the loop and sometimes even make us want to throw in the towel. But you know, we also have been empowered by the God who created us. We have what it takes to see real, lasting change.

How do I know?

Because I’ve seen these kind of amazing changes in so many other areas of my life.

So where do we start?

Prayer

Prayer is key. We must take our plans to the Lord. We must ask for His wisdom and strength. We must first check our motives. I am certain that God will lead us and direct us. He will give us the courage to face the ugly, and the endurance to keep going even when we don’t want to. Take it to God. He cares about every single area of your life.

Yep, that’s it. That’s all we’re going to do today. Think and Pray.

I know, I know. You want to know about the {20 Minute Rule} and I promise, I will share more. But first thing’s first. We have to sit down and really think about what is NOT working. Then let’s take it to God. Without this first step, all our other efforts are futile.

Join me tomorrow when we learn what to do next and how this {20 Minute Rule} can change our lives!
