Priorities

Last week I mentioned it would be good to review Day 5 over the weekend. See, Day 5 is the day when we talk about priorities.

Sarah Mae gives us a breakdown of what hers look like: God, Husband, Children, Home, Gifts, and Personal (in that order).

But you and I, we have to come to a place where we know what our priorities are, not because of Sarah Mae’s list, but because we are rooted in God’s word. When we are in communion with God, He leads us.

Do you have your priorities in order, or is that something you still need to take care of?

I’m currently ending a homeschooling year while simultaneously preparing for a new one. I’m knee deep in appointments and all the other demands of life. And there’s more, so much more I can’t even begin to break down in this little space.

Day 5 came right on time for me. Day 5 reminds me of something I heard Heidi St. John say in one of her awesome webinars, “seek the Lord for the things of ‘first importance’.”

It’s the same thing we hear in Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

So while I take on the Martha challenge for today and wash some kitchen windows and blinds, I will also humble myself, like Mary, before the throne of the One who said, “I know the plans I have for you,” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Because none of my plans mean anything if they are not aligned with His.

Lord, I start here, seeking You. And here, in Your Presence, I want you to show me: what are the things of ‘first importance’?

How about you? Are you ready for today’s challenge?

Today’s Challenge (from 31 Days To Clean)

Mary Challenge: Come up with a list of priorities that make sense for you and your family. (Rate how you’re doing from 1-5 to evaluate yourself in these areas).

Martha Challenge:  Kitchen- Wash your window treatments and/or clean your blinds. Wash the inside of your windows.

I pray you are staying motivated. We are well on our way. By the end of these 31 days you will be empowered by what you have been able to accomplish in your home, by the grace of God.

You can do this!
