The Six List

Okay, so if it worked for Charles Schwab, President of Bethlehem Steel, then this whole thing about The Six List is definitely worth considering. Basically, you take out a sheet of paper and list the six most important things that need to get done tomorrow. Then number them in their order of priority, and go at it.

The Six List seems easy enough.

Several months ago, I purchased an eBook bundle which came with Planner Perfect’s, eBook, A Fresh Idea on Organizing Your Life. In her eBook, Jenny talks about the importance of sitting down with crisp white notebook paper and writing out what your day will look like tomorrow. I’ve done this for most of the last 5 months and it does work.

There is something about sitting down and preparing yourself for tomorrow. Sure, we don’t have control over all the things tomorrow will bring. We can’t even guarantee we will see tomorrow. However, we can prepare as best we can for tomorrow, and by the grace of God we can navigate through those challenges with a plan in hand.

So maybe you’re not ready for writing down what you want your next day to look like. Maybe the thought of doing that seems overwhelming to you. I understand.

Perhaps the Six List would work great for you. Sit down and write the six most important things you need to get done tomorrow. Then in the order of importance, go at them with full focus. Try it out for the next six days and see if the advice given to Charles Schwab works for you.

 

Today’s Challenge (from 31 Days To Clean)

Mary Challenge: Try making your own Six list and use it for six days in a row  (those who have the eBook, a template is available for you on pg. 72). Put the most important things first, and then finish them in order (do not skip around). What you don’t accomplish on that day’s list put at the top of the next day’s list. 

Martha Challenge:  Kitchen- clean out and organize all your cabinets. 

Start being proactive about your time. I’m sure this simple 5 minute task each day will make a huge difference. Leave me a comment and let me know how it works for you?
