Hope Overflowing

Perhaps you’re facing a seemingly hopeless situation. Maybe you’ve looked at what’s going on in the world, in your nation, in your home, and you’ve stopped believing anything good can come out of this.

The scary thing about losing hope is that we become cynical, embittered, and angry. Without hope we lose sight of the next step, momentum is stunted, and we find ourselves sinking in the chaos around us.

Scripture teaches us a different way.

We’re called out of our despair. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have a living hope (1 Pet. 1:3).

It’s a better hope than what the world offers. One through which we draw near to God (Heb. 7:19).

We do not walk as those who are without hope. Rather our hope is in Christ Jesus (1 Ti. 1:1).

And so, we’re reminded to hold fast to hope without wavering (Heb. 10:23).

We await, expectantly and eagerly, for the promises of God to manifest themselves (Gal. 5:5).

We are not moved away from the hope of the gospel (Col. 1:23).

Our hope is laid up in heaven for us (Col. 1:5), and so we will walk in patience and endure in our hope in Christ (1 Th. 1:3).

We will plow in hope and thresh in hope (1 Cor. 9:10).

We will rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and continue steadfastly in prayer (Rom. 8:24).

Because hope does not disappoint,

Because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us (Rom. 5:5).

Because He who promised is faithful (Heb. 10:23)!

My prayer for you today…

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” (Romans 15:13).
