20141217_113907When I was 16 I ran away from home. I should have been learning the skills and character traits necessary  to one day be a wife and mother. I should have been developing my God-given gifts and talents. I should have been learning who I was.  Instead, I was on the streets going from one house to the next, trying to find my place. Sadly, I wasn’t prepared to be a woman who could manage her home. I was terrified of making mistakes in my parenting. I didn’t understand a thing about life. And, well, I just didn’t have a clue who I was.

Oh, I faked it alright. But faking it can only get you so far. At some point you’ve got to face your mess and begin the hard work of cleaning up, sorting through, and moving forward. I sought mentorship for so long. I wondered where were the women who went before me who’d point the way. But I was left quite disillusioned when I came up empty handed. I’d have to figure things out. I wanted a place where I could document this process that other women might be encouraged on their journey. Perhaps something I learned along the way could help them not waste all the time I did wandering. That’s the simple “about” us.

The Goal?

The mission statement, if you will (and it changes and evolves as God works in my own life)…

{In Pursuit} My Quest is an invitation for women to be agents of change in their respective spheres of influence, as they step out of their comfort zone and boldly live out the abundant life God ordained for them.

Our mission is to empower women for intentional and purposeful living by:

  • Point others to Jesus
  • Encouraging women to walk in their God-given assignments
  • Inspiring mothers and wives in their holy callings as influencers in their homes
  • And preparing and instructing women in their God-given roles as caretakers of their homes

A little lofty? Perhaps.

Either way, I’m just showing up each week hoping to pour out for others out of the generosity God has so lavishly poured out on me.

A Little Bit About Me

I’m Darlene (that’s me on the top right corner, Hi!). Saved by grace. Daughter of the King. Married for 8 years to my wonderful (and awfully talented husband), Jason, and together we have 3 kids, which I call my treasure box! I totally need to get a family portrait done. Perhaps one day soon. For now, meet the family below.

I am a lover of words and all things creative. I’m a recovering sugar addict (why do oatmeal chocolate chip cookies have to taste so darn good?!). In my spare time you can find me reading (way too many books at one time!), creating printables, prints, and templates, and writing here on {In Pursuit}. I’m mustering up the courage to write my first e-book. I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes.

Last year I joined the World Help Bloggers team. As an advocate for World Help, a “faith-based humanitarian organization that exists to serve the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world”,  I’m learning what true mercy, compassion, justice, and hope means. You can read more {here}.

This year I joined the (in)courage community where I am co-leading an awesome group of homeschooling mamas. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I homeschool my daughter. Fun! Fun! Some days not so fun! But every day, a privilege.

The Quick Tour

Now that you know a little more about me, let me show you around. I know any visit to a new place can get overwhelming. Here’s the quick tour around here. Catch me writing about Life, Faith,  Family,  and more about 3-5 times a week.
