For When Everything Seems Meaningless…

Meaning

One can live life with pretty things, white picket fences, bank accounts full to the brim, and every desire met and fulfilled. And still, one can go hungry. Half-starved, thirsty–parched and dry. Meaningless. Everything under the sun is meaningless.

One can live life fully surrounded by the masses. And still, one can feel fully and painfully alone. Invisible. Non-existent. Meaningless. Everything under the sun is meaningless.

One can live with beauty, fortune, and fame. And still, one can feel ugly, unworthy, and ashamed. Meaningless. Everything under the sun is meaningless.

One can live with every need met, every want fulfilled, every desire achieved. And still, one can feel empty, barren, and hollow inside. Meaningless. Everything under the sun is meaningless.

“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind,” (Ecclesiastes 1:14).

Then there’s One who comes to fill.

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly,” (John 10:10).

And so, that we might have life, He… He gives up His. He lays it down on His own accord. On the third day, He defeated death through His resurrection (2 Tim. 1:10) and the invitation was given.

I’ve come, that you might have life. Real life. Life that satisfies your hunger. Life that quenches your thirst. Life that removes the loneliness and ushers you into eternal fellowship with Me. Life that opens your eyes to the beauty all around you, and to the beauty that is you. Life that fills abundantly, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing. See, I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. All your searching, all your striving, all of your pursuits, outside of Me, will never provide you a lasting return on your investment.

Meaningless. Everything under the sun is meaningless. I’ve come to give you real, true, and abounding life. It’s in Me you’ll find the meaning you so long for!

-John 10:10, Ecclesiastes 1, John 14:6

  1. “It’s in me that you’ll find the meaning you so long for.” Yes. This, Darlene. This is exactly what I need to remember day in and day out when everything in my life screams just the opposite. To think He thought enough of ME to give up HIS life…all of His life so I could live? It’s just too good NOT to be true. Love these soul-filling words today friend. Love YOU. xo
