As I watched what was going on in this world–how we’ve attempted to take God out of everything while still expecting His blessing and protection–my heart grieved. In an ever-changing world, I needed to anchor myself on God’s unchanging truths. I needed to quiet the voices, the noise, and the distractions that I might hear God’s on-time word. My book club gals and I finished reading Sally Clarkson’s wisdom-filled book,  Own Your Life: Living with Deep Intention, Bold Faith, and Generous Love.

Inspired by Sally’s challenge to own our lives, we wanted to keep growing, yet we knew moving forward would require a hard stop at prayer. Because if we were going to seek God for our lives, the search would have to begin on our knees.

And so, we’re jumping into the topic of prayer as we read through Priscilla Shirer’s newly released book, Fervent, A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer. Here’s a bit of what to expect from Priscilla’s new book followed by all the details:

“You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.
So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.” – Fervent

I just saw the movie War Room. I wish I had known about this book club, I would have joined. Do you think you will do a repeat of this book again. I am planning on purchasing it (Fervent by Priscilla Shirer) so if you do, please let me know. thank you.

    • Blessings, Madeline. I’m not sure how I missed this comment. My apologies. We had a great time during our FERVENT book club. I’m sorry you missed it, too! It would have been a great opportunity to get to know each other better. I do have all the FERVENT book club posts archived here.

You’ll find some discussion questions at the end of each post. Perhaps that will help lead the discussion for you as you go through the book. I’m sure you will love it. You’ll be given tools that will help you fight on your journey. I’d love to hear how it goes for me when you read it. Although, we probably won’t be doing FERVENT again, if you’ve signed up for our Book Club Thursday newsletter, you’ll be notified as soon as our next book club is in session. 🙂 You can sign up here.

This is by far the best bible study I have done! I feel like Priscilla wrote this book especially for me! It is filled with so much good information on how we can be aware of the enemy’s presence in our lives and how to combat it with prayer…real, fervent prayer! God wants us to be happy and fulfilled in our lives and wants us to rely on and trust him. Spending time in prayer helps us to stay connected to God and keeps the enemy at a distance. I recommend this to everyone to read and really dig deep into renewing your prayer life…it can make all the difference in your life! Thank you Priscilla!!
