Linger Here Just A Little While Longer {There’s More!}

The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him… 2 Chronicles 16:9

It’s this whole idea of living life –with a heart- fully committed to God that has caused me to turn inward. Hand-in-hand with the Holy Spirit, as together we rummage through the corridors and crevices of my heart.

And though I’m a woman of God, and though I live my life ‘with a heart’ for God and His kingdom business… the Holy Spirit makes visible the invisible. I’m only scratching surface.

As I seek to live a 2C16:9 life, God spreads out before me a way of living I have yet to understand. He displays for me an adventure my soul has longed for, but I have yet to live.

Beyond the surface level, where I am now wading carefully, there are treasures waiting to be uncovered, secrets waiting to be discovered.

I’ve been here before. It’s this place of newness where you come to the fork in the road and must make life-impacting decisions.

I’ve been here before. It’s this place where everything seems new again, and like a young child trying to figure out the basics of life, you fumble through trying to find your balance.

And just when my whole Pursuit was becoming familiar, He guides me by the hand beckoning, “Come deeper.”

He loves me. I know it. I feel it. He wants me to ‘see’ something.

My friend, I cannot tell you how many times those words have taken me from one place to another.

It’s as though He know. Yes. He knows me. He knows the Darlene whose longing is so deep and real, nothing on this side of heaven has been able to satisfy.

He knows.

And sitting with my 5 year-old reading through stories of the life of Jesus, I come face-to-face with Luke 10:27, “Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

We memorize this scripture together.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart.

The echoes of the Holy Spirit take me back. There. He’s trying to teach me something. He’s trying to uncover a truth so vital to my journey this year.

…with all your heart.

Yes Lord. I will sit here. Teach me.

I pull up the Lexicon and start digging into the first part of this scripture. Let’s just say, I haven’t moved beyond it. Because to carry out the {Live Life Fully Committed} Challenge, I must go beyond the surface. And so, I’m chewing on this….

I’m stuck here. I’m in no rush to hurry past this. I am {In Pursuit} of God and my desire is to {Live Life -with a heart- Fully Committed} Him.

Won’t you join me? Won’t you linger with me, just a bit?

Today’s Challenge:

  • Are you welcoming the Lord into every area of your life?
  • Have you made Him Lord over your life?
  • Is your heart divided? Or have you surrendered it to God in its entirety?
  • Are you loving the Lord, your God, with all your heart: thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, endeavors?
