Maintain Your Position {With Faith and Action} -Part 5

This week we made a declaration, we would no longer be moved and shifted by the circumstances of life. Instead, we will maintain our position in spite of opposition!

* * * * *

I’ve had such a wonderful time this week sharing the {Maintain Your Position In Spite Of Opposition} series. It is one that I hold dear to my heart as these disciplines are ones I’ve had to grow in.

You know how it goes. You think you’ve got it down, and then you fail. You think you’re strong and then life happens and you run in the wrong direction. I’m 31 years young, and I can honestly say, I have had to repeat many tests because I just couldn’t get it right. Fear and the need for approval always caused me to run.

Although I am limited in space and time to break this down any further, I pray this week has been a week which inspires you to go deeper with God. I pray this week would encourage you to choose something different than ‘running’ when opposition strikes.

If you’re sick-and-tired of being sick-and-tired, and if you’ve stepped out in courage making the declaration of faith…  If you’re ready to act on that faith, believing God is Sovereign in your life, then my friend- you’ve already gotten to discipline number four:

FAITH AND ACTION

See, it’s great you’ve prayed. It’s awesome you’ve chosen to find the blessing in the ‘now’ and offered thanksgiving. It is remarkable you’ve pushed through the pain and obstacles to offer unto God a sacrifice of praise. But now, it’s time to go deeper.

Now it’s time to operate by faith. Hebrews 11:1, tells us, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

We must move in faith with the understanding that God will do what He said He would do. His word goes forth and it will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

YEAH, YEAH. BUT HOW?

Without meaning to sound trivial… just take the next step.

That’s right. Move. One. Step. In. Front. Of. The. Other.

Don’t feel like getting up in the mornings and facing the day? Roll out of the bed. Say ‘thank you Jesus for a new day of life’. Brush your teeth. Comb your hair. Just do the next thing.

Don’t have it in you to deal with another bill collector? Sit down. Write out the bills. Pray about it. Put $5 in a savings account. Call one of those bill collectors. Write out a budget. Pick just one thing to do. And then, just do the next thing.

Your marriage is falling apart. You’ve lost all hope. Don’t have it in you to keep fighting? Take a deep breath. Pray. Try saying something kind to your spouse. Try an act of kindness. Try sitting in the same room and watching something together. Try holding back your negative comment. Just do the next thing.

The scenarios for types of opposition out there are numerous. I cannot possibly go into each of them. But you get the point. Opposition will arise. Trouble and testing will happen. And when all hell is breaking loose in your life, you’ve got two options. You can run away in fear, or you can maintain your position with Romans 8:31 as your mantra, “If God is for you, who can be against you?!”

SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO, AGAIN?

We are going to discipline our lives with:

1. Prayer. Because all we ever need, all we could ever want, all we could ever dream of… it’s all found in His Presence.

2. Thanksgiving. Because a heart filled with thanksgiving cannot simultaneously complain and grumble. (Go ahead, try it!)

3. Praise. Because praise causes God to increase inside of us causing us to see that He is much bigger than our opposition!

4. Faith & Action. Because we understand our position, as children of God, we can continue to move in faith, believing we will see the deliverance of the Lord!

We will dance all over our victories on the other side of the opposition!!

Standing in the gap with you,

Darlene
